Alumni in Politics
The alumni of Delta Sigma Phi have made their mark in many industries, including politics. Two notable alumni are Michael Keith Deaver, San Jose State University '59, and Thomas Harkin, Iowa State University of Science & Technology '60.
Deaver had a long career in politics working for Ronald Reagan. He ran several political campaigns and led his own consulting company before becoming White House Deputy Chief of Staff from 1981 until 1985.
Harkin is a Delta Sig who led America as a United States Senator. One of his achievements while in office is authoring the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
Harkin and Deaver both serve as examples of effective and dynamic leaders produced by Delta Sigma Phi.
